Dr. Manahel Thabet is the President of UAE-based Smart Tips Consulting, and the only woman in the Gulf listed as a trader in the international bourse, dealing with stocks and bonds on Nasdaq, Nikkei, Dow Jones and FTSE 100. She was formerly the President (MENA) of Calypte USA (plc), and an investment advisor to the National Bank of Abu Dhabi. With international experience of 17 years in the United States, the Middle East and Africa, Dr. Manahel provides an intellectual direction to domestic and international business in the GCC and MENA regions.

A columnist for a number of specialist financial magazines and part of the prestigious Gulf Research Centre’s research faculty, Dr. Manahel commenced her life of public service with a Fulbright Scholarship and internship at the UN HQ in New York, and subsequently became a Project Manager with the IMF & World Bank in Cairo, and a Senior Financial Project Manager at the HR mentoring committee of the World Bank.

Dr. Manahel holds a PhD in Financial Engineering from DePaul University, as well as an MBA and an MA in Economical Policies for Strategic Planning. She is a member of MENSA International, Young Arab Leaders, the International Association of Financial Engineers and the Financial Committee of the UAE Central Bank, and in an already illustrious career has been recognised with a number of excellence awards for her success in business and finance, including:

As a non-executive director and advisor to the Kauzala Group, Dr. Manahel brings invaluable financial and accounting expertise to the firm’s management, as well as broader business and managerial counsel for Kauzala’s GCC and MENA-centric business activity. Dr. Manahel also serves on the boards and management committees of Rashid Islamic Bank and Agile Financial Technology.
